Ching Christie PANG
I am Christie Pang (彭晴), a second-year PhD student in the Individualized Interdisciplinary Program at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, advised by Professor Pan Hui and Professor James Kwok (CSE).
My research interests are deeply rooted in the exploration of human-AI relationships and their transformative prosocial applications. I am passionate about understanding how AI can enhance creativity, problem-solving, and social interactions in meaningful ways. However, I also recognize that AI is a powerful tool that can have negative consequences if misused. It is crucial to navigate this technology thoughtfully, ensuring that we harness its potential for good while being aware of the ethical implications and challenges it presents. I investigate the dynamics of these relationships, focusing on how AI can be designed to foster collaboration, empathy, and innovation among users while minimizing risks. By bridging the gap between technology and human experience, I aim to create AI solutions that empower individuals and communities, making our world a more connected and compassionate place.
Priod to joining HKUST, I earned both my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and master's degree in Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong. I am always eager for thoughtful discussions and enjoy connecting with others who share similar passions. If you’re interested in my work or want to explore potential collaborations, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out at ccpangaa[AT]connect[DOT]ust[DOT]hk and let me know which project or idea piqued your interest.
